How to use the Key2Benefits card

The Key2Benefits card is a debit card and can be used to make payments and transactions in all places where the MasterCard® card circuit is accepted. The card can also be used for purchases on online platforms, telephone payments and mail order payments.

The Key2Benefits card, of course, can be used to withdraw cash from active ATMs, banks, credit unions, or to get cash back with purchases at participating retailers.

What should I select when making a purchase?

When one of our customers uses their Key2Benefits card for a purchase, they must select “Credit”. When one of our customers uses their Key2Benefits card to get a “cash back” they must select “Debit”, at participating retailers.  In both cases you will also need to enter your 4-digit PIN.

What do I have to do to withdraw cash?

Thanks to the Key2Benefits card, you can withdraw cash in different ways:

– ATM Withdrawal: Access your cash by making withdrawals at any KeyBank, First Niagara or Allpoint ATM at no cost. Cash withdrawals at other ATMs cost $1.50 per withdrawal;

– Branch/Counter Withdrawal – MasterCard® Counter Cash Withdrawal (up to the penny) is available at no charge at any MasterCard® member bank (including all KeyBank locations).

– Cash Back with purchases – At participating merchants, such as grocery or convenience stores.

– Card-to-Account Transfer – Transfer part or all of your balance to a personal checking or savings account through the Key2Benefits website.

How do I know when funds are credited to my Key2Benefits card?

You will have the option of receiving optional alerts by SMS, or by e-mail, to be informed of the crediting of various sums of money, balances, or changes of address online at Key2Benefits.com

How can I load money onto my Key2Benefits card?

Only the program administrator who enrolled you in the card program can add funds to your card.

Where can I find my Key2Benefits transaction history?

All information regarding your transactions can be accessed online 24/7 at Key2Benefits.com. You can also request a paper statement on the website or by calling Customer Service. You can get more details via the card statement.

How can I check the balance of my Key2Benefits card?

Again, the balance and transaction history can be viewed on the Key2Benefits.com online site 24/7 at no cost. In any case, you have several options:

– Phone: Call free support at 1-866-295-2955;

– Message: Log in to Key2Benefits.com and click on the “Alerts” tab to sign up for text alerts, including current balance alerts. You can set the frequency of messages under the “Alerts” tab;

– Email: Sign up to receive free email notifications when funds have been loaded onto your card or when your balance is low. (Login to Key2Benefits.com and click on the “Alerts” tab to learn more);

– ATM: Make a balance enquiry at an ATM. There is never a charge to perform a balance enquiry at an ATM.

Can I make a purchase for an amount greater than the amount on my Key2Benefits card?

If you need to make a payment for an amount greater than your balance, you can use a special method: Tell the cashier how much you want to withdraw from your card balance, and then, pay the remaining balance with cash, cheque, credit card or another debit card. “Split transactions” are only available at participating retailers.

Can I use my Key2Benefits card at the gas pump?

You can use your card to pay for supplies at the petrol station, but a small percentage may be withheld: this amount will be held until the actual amount of the transaction is cleared.

You can avoid having the funds withheld by paying directly to the cashier inside the petrol station. Payments made inside are settled immediately.

Similar maximum deductions may apply to transactions in restaurants and car rentals. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions for more information.

Can my Key2Benefits card be detected?

Obviously, if you wish to carry out a transaction whose amount exceeds the balance on your Key2Benefits card, it will not be possible to complete the payment. It will not be approved.

In rare cases, if you do not have sufficient funds when the final amount is cleared, it may result in a negative balance; however, you will not be charged an overdraft fee.

Who can access my transaction history?

For privacy reasons, KeyBank does not share card numbers or transaction details. KeyBank has access to the amount and date of each charge on your card.

Is there any interest earned on the funds on my Key2Benefits card?

No. The funds on your Key2Benefits card do not pay interest.
