Activating your gift card is required only for cards with over $250.
If your cards have $250 and less then you are not required to activate it and you can start spending it immediately.
Gift cards that come over the $250 limit, an email address will have been set by the buyer when the card was purchased.
Activation instructions will be sent to that email along with a password that will be required to activate the card.

For security reasons, Walmart will require you to activate any Walmart Gift Cards purchased in an order of 25 cards and/or an order of $250 or more.

How to Check a Walmart Gift Card Balance?
The best and easiest way to check your Walmart gift balance is to visit Walmart gift card balance.
Do this only if you have 16 digit card number and PIN.
On the gift balance page, enter your card details as instructed and click “Get Card Balance”
Your gift card balance will immediately flash on the screen.
Alternatively, you can check in a Walmart store or by simply calling 1-888-537-5503 and following the instructions given.

Walmart Gift Card PIN
All Walmart gift cards have their PIN written on the back of the card at the bottom right corner found under a silver scratch-off area.
If are not able to find the PIN on the card, you just simply need to visit any nearby Walmart or Sam’s Club in the US and you will be able to trade in your card for another with the same balance and the addition of a PIN.
This is because you need the PIN for you to be able to shop with your gift card online.

How to Store Walmart Gift Cards in Your Account?
If you don’t plan on using your gift card any time soon, you can store up to 5 of them in your account at any one time.
To do this you will need to:
- Sign in to your Walmart account here.
- Select ‘Account’.
- Under ‘Manage Account’, click on ‘Gift Cards’.
- Click on ‘Add a New Gift Card’.
- Enter the 16-digit gift card number, your PIN, and set a nickname for the card.
- Click ‘Save’.
The gift card will now be securely kept in your account until you wish to use it, you will also no longer need the PIN when you redeem your card.
How to Use Your Gift Card to Make Online Purchases?
If you wish to use your gift card online, select the items you want on the Walmart website, and continue as normal until you reach the payment screen.
From there you will need to:
- Select the ‘Gift Card’ option.
- Enter the details of your gift card or select one that has already been saved to your account.
- Check that the cards have been added, if they have been, they will appear in your purchase summary.
- Complete your purchase.
If your order comes to less than what is on the gift card, the remaining amount will stay on the card and will be available for any future purchases.
If your order comes to more than what you have available on your card, you will be required to fill the remaining balance with other gift cards or your credit or debit card.
Where Can I Use Walmart Gift Cards?
Walmart gift cards can be used in any Walmart store, on Walmart, in any Sam’s Club store, Samsclub.com, Vudu.com, or at any Walmart or Sam’s Club gas stations.
It’s important to remember that if you are not a Sam’s Club member when you try to use your gift card there, a 10% surcharge will be added on to any purchase.
Lost or Stolen Walmart Gift Cards
Walmart does not take responsibility for your stolen gift card. You are advised to make sure your card is kept safe and secured and taken out only necessary.
Though it very unfortunate event when you lost you card and it can not be replaced, you will always be able to buy another one which is some extra cost.
